Kindergarten

  • All students increased sight words by at least 20%.
  • All students achieved 100% mastery in letter sounds.
  • A 5% increase or greater was noted in letter formation.

Third Grade

  • 100% of students increased their fluency ranging from 4-65 words per minute.
  • 50% of students measured showed gains in sight word recognition.
  • 62% of students measured showed gains in spelling ranging from 5-55%, the remaining 37% maintained their skills throughout summer school.
  • 80% of students increased by 1/2 rubric scores.
  • TOWRE test didn't accurately measure material taught through Read Naturally Program.

First Grade

  • All but 5 increased sight word recognition by range of 8-19 words.
  • In writing all increased at least 1/2 rubric score.
  • 50% increased 1 writing rubric score.
  • All but 1 student increased in spelling skills ranging from 5-65% improvement range.

Fourth Grade

  • 80% of students measured increased phonetic skills through Rewards ranging from 20-40 points.
  • 20% maintained in phonic skills through Rewards Program.
  • 80% showed increase in Decoding ranging 3-7 points as measured through Standard Score increase.
  • 80% improved spelling ability with increases ranging from 6% -36%.
  • 60% improved writing by 1/2 rubric score, the remaining 40% maintained their current levels

Second Grade

  • Overall reading: 61% showed improvement, 14% maintained.
  • 100% of students increased on their first 100 sight words; ranging from 3-32 word increase.
  • 100% of students increased on their second 100 sight words randing from 3-28 word increase.
  • 23% showed slight decline in sight word knowledge, yet as students learn to sound out words, there is a temporary "dip" in sight word recognition as they use their newly developed skills.
  • All but 1 student increased in spelling skills ranging from 5-65% improvement

Fifth Grade

  • 90% showed gains through Rewards from 5-35 points.
  • 50% showed gains in decoding as measured through TOWRE.
  • 50% improved spelling ranging from 5-29% gains.
  • 85% gained at least 1/2 level in writing rubric.
