The Tasmanian Devil

     The Tasmanian devil is named well.  It is a mean little animal.  It has black fur with white spots.  It looks like a small bear.  This animal weighs 12 to 20 pounds.  It can kill animals much bigger than itself.

     Tasmanian devils are mean to each other when they mate.  The male keeps the female in his den.  He will not let her go out for two weeks.  After they mate things change.  It is the female that is mean.  She bites the male if he comes near her.  The tasmanian devil keeps its babies in a pouch.  The animal hunts at night.  It hides in the day.  It will eat many kinds of animals, dead or alive.  Sheep and chicken are meals it likes a lot. 

     The Tasmanian devil lives on the island of Tasmania.  The island is south of Australia.
