Dolphins

Dolphins are whale-like mammels that live in water.  A dolphin has a nose that looks like a beak.  The blowhole in the top of its head helps the dolphin breathe.

Dolphins are born alive.  The mother dolphin is called a cow.  The baby dolphin is called a calf.  The calf drinks its mother's milk.

Dolphins can see, hear, and taste, but they cannot smell things.  Dolphins swim in groups called schools.  If a dolphin gets sick, others will help it.

People like to watch dolphins swim and do tricks.  They can jump in the air and catch trings on their noses.  Some scientists think dolphins talk to each other.  They make a sound like a whistle.  Maybe some day we can learn to talk to dolphins.
